Father's Day

The idea for Father's Day originated in 1910 in the United States. A woman named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to pay tribute to her father who had raised seven children after her mother died in childbirth alone. She wanted to pay tribute to her father, a veteran of the American Civil War.

From the moment the idea was born, a struggle begins that was not realized until 1966 and the first Father's Day was officially celebrated. President Lyndon Johnson made Father's Day a holiday in the United States in 1963, and since then the day always falls on the third Sunday in June in the United States.

In Sweden, Father's Day was added after the American model during the 1930s. Many traditions are gathered around the celebration of this day, but let us not forget the most important thing, which is to make dad feel more special than ever.
